Kelly's story
The history of the company began in 1894 in the small town of Springfield, Ohio, with the creation of Edwin Kelly and Arthur Grant of The Rubber Tire Wheel, which was originally engaged in the development and production of bicycle tires. Since the company did not have its own production, the first 45,000 tires were produced at BF Goodrich . The Rubber Tire Wheel has successfully established itself among consumers and by 1899 the company had 8 sales offices throughout America. In 1911, after obtaining a patent, the company released its first car tire and changed its name to the familiar Kelly-Springfield Tire Company. The first Kelly Tires automobile tire was notable for its unique design with a wire frame.
Before the start of World War I, Kelly-Springfield remained a small company, but after the introduction of a new line for the production of pneumatic tires and heavy-duty models for trucks, the number of orders began to grow exponentially. By 1916, the existing production did not have time to pair with a huge number of orders, and the management decided to introduce new production facilities.
In 1921, Kelly Tires opened a tire factory in the Allegany County industrial complex, Cumberland, which until 1987 was the largest state enterprise. The history of the factory is divided into three stages of development. In the first phase from 1921 to 1942, the company successfully produced a wide range of tires. From 1942 to 1945, the production of the plant was reoriented to the manufacture of ammunition. In 1945, the plant modernizes equipment and again begins production of tires.
In 1935, Kelly-Springfield Tire became part of Goodyear Corporation, where it remains to this day. In 1938, the Cadillac brand approved the new Kelly Vogue passenger car tires for the original equipment of their cars. Until the outbreak of World War II, Kelly-Springfield stands firmly on its feet and produces a wide range of products, including canes, pillows, furniture for home and office, shoe soles, bicycle accessories, ball cameras and much more. In the 50s, colossal sales of automobiles, whose sales came close to 60 million, demanded that the manufacturers of auto parts corresponding to their range and quantity of products. This contributed to the significant growth of the company. By the end of the 60s, Kelly Tires offices were opened in 71 countries.
The company has in its assets many different innovative developments and is the first in the research and production of solid rubber for the production of car tires. For more than a century of history on the market, Kelly tires have earned well-deserved popularity and respect among customers. The main principles of the Kelly brand are high quality, long life, warranty and reasonable price. Under the Kelly brand, tires are produced for both SUVs and passenger cars, including winter tires.
